China City is one of Kampala’s largest mixed-use commercial developments — housing retail outlets, offices, and hospitality spaces across a substantial multi-building complex. Monaco Coatings was engaged to deliver the full exterior coating solution for the development’s facade, providing a consistent, high-quality finish across a large and diverse building envelope.
China City’s scale and visibility demanded a product that could deliver premium colour depth consistently across a large commercial facade — Monaco Abertone was the definitive specification.
Monaco Abertone — our premium exterior paint — was selected to achieve the deep colour coverage and refined aesthetic specified by the development’s architects. With multiple building elevations of varying orientation and exposure, colour consistency across the entire complex was a key technical requirement that Monaco’s coating team addressed through rigorous application standards and on-site quality control.
Monaco Weatherguard was applied on lower-level and more exposed wall sections to provide enhanced weather and fungal resistance in areas prone to moisture, ground-level humidity, and heavy foot traffic. The combination of Abertone and Weatherguard across different facade zones ensured both aesthetic continuity and targeted performance where it was needed most.
Challenges
Maintaining colour consistency across very large, multi-elevation facade surfaces
Coordinating exterior painting around active construction and tenant fitout schedules
Applying coatings to upper-level surfaces requiring scaffolding and elevated access equipment
Managing multiple product specifications across different facade zones within one project
China City stands as a prominent example of Monaco’s ability to deliver large-scale commercial exterior coating projects on time, on specification, and to the visual standard that landmark Kampala developments demand.
